The beauty of instrumental music is that in its wordless way, it can dramatically tell our stories, or the stories of others.

Even so, no person hears a musical story in the same way; the affective result of a piece comes from the way in which it subverts our own stories, brightens or darkens our perceptions, and identifies with us in our own unique situations.

This is why we, as composers, have a creative responsibility to our listeners. With our music we can influence lives.
